If We Be Waspish

If all the world’s a stage

And mankind never comes of age

What dreams may come

To those who still have some?

If this our show goes on and on

And they are forced to take their bows anon

Have they but slumbered here?

Can they wake up anywhere?

If our shadows have offended

Whose hopes might they have ended?

Where is this fabled Paradise?

Is it without, within?

Once stripped of our disguise

Are we not all akin?

What’s in a name?

What’s in the colour of our skin?

Fie, for shame

Aren’t we all one?

One for all and all for one

If we be waspish, best beware our sting

Lest these your wounds more sorrow bring

Forgive us, for we have sinned

Thousands upon thousands we have skinned

Oh, how we by Greed are tempted

Our virtues, one by one thus tainted

Hunger daily we serve on a guilt plate

How straight is the gate?

We take from the poor and throw it all away

How narrow the way?

Where is this fabled Paradise?

Is it without, within?

Once stripped of our disguise

Are we not all akin?

What’s in a name?

What’s in the colour of our skin?

Fie, for shame

Aren’t we all one?

One for all and all for one
