A Picture of Misery

Let’s paint a picture of our misery

Make this courtyard here our gallery

Let’s each to the other express our self-doubt

What I see is not virtue by vices beguiled

It’s will by disenchantment defiled

It is distress in disguise

It’s green eyes and big smiles

Come, we’ll blame it on a technical knockout

Why fight if we can forfeit it all

If on all fours we can crawl?

Let’s paint a picture of our misery

Make this courtyard here our gallery

Let’s each to the other express our innermost fears

What you see is not strain from outward vexation

It’s ability quenched by innate devastation

It is hurt in disguise

It’s blue eyes in a flirt

Come, we’ll blame it on outer spheres

Why fly if we can ground it all

If we can stumble and fall?
