She left me a wasteland

She left me a wasteland

Upended in tar sand

Suspended offhand

Undefended on the stand

She, a tornado

Unaware of her own undertow

Ensnared me in turbulent flow

Dared me myself to unknow

She, an assault on my senses

Broke through old defenses

Uncloaked my pretenses

Invoked old offenses

She, a tornado

Afraid to forego

Unswayed by my woe

Bade me myself overthrow

She left me a wasteland

Pendant in quicksand

Despondent enough to disband

Correspondent demands
